Registration is open now! Sign up at the library or in the READsquared app! (Offline registration forms are available.) The program begins June 1 and will run through July 15. All reading counts! Audiobooks, graphic novels/comics, magazines, newspapers - whatever you like to read. Being read to also counts for both parties! Age Groups

KIDS PROGRAMWhat is the Kids Summer Reading Program? The summer reading program is a fun way to keep on reading throughout the summer! The annual 6 week program was created to help children maintain their reading skills learned during the school year, and have a positive, educational, rewarding and fun reading experience at the library! Who Can Participate? Everyone! The kids program is designed for ages 0 - 12 or up to 8th grade. Sign-up anytime! Registration is easy! You can email Miss Angela at [email protected], use the READsquared app, call 309-467-2922 extension 2, or stop by the library. We recommend reading 2 hours/week! How Can I Win Prizes? Read each week and come to the library to get your prizes from Lydia’s Dairy Barn, Uncle Bob’s, Braker’s Market, Subway, Monical’s, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, and more! TEEN PROGRAMWhat is the Teen Summer Reading Challenge? This program is for teenagers 13 years old and older. The teens set their own reading goals. They can also complete reading challenges provided at the library. Register by sign-up in the children's library or at the teen table in the magazine area, emailing Angela at [email protected] or by using the READsquared app. Who Can Participate? Teenagers 13 to 17, or 9th - 12th grade, can join the Teen Summer Reading Challenge. Teens can choose to join the teen challenge or the kids program. How Can I Win Prizes? Teens fill out their summer goal card and/or complete reading challenge card. They can be found at the teen table in the magazine area. Teens need to turn in cards to enter the grand prize drawings! Teens can complete and turn in as many cards as they want and win prizes. All cards are due by July 31. Teenagers can also come to the library and try to win a prize with a winner card. Teens scratch off the card and win a prize. If the card says, "WINNER" they can bring the card to the adult circulation desk and choose a prize from the Teen Prize Tub. ADULT PROGRAMWhat is the Adult Summer Reading Program? This program is for adults ages 18+. Simply read 20 minutes per day for 35 days out of the 6-week program and log your time in READsquared! Who Can Participate? All adults! And all reading counts! How Can I Win Prizes? Adult participants will be entered into weekly prize drawings! New for 2024: all adult weekly and grand prize winners will be drawn at the end of the program. All prizes must be picked up in person - they cannot be mailed. |
