Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How long do I have to complete each course?
A: You have six (6) months to complete each course.  If you are unable to complete a course within six months, you may always re-enroll in a course and pick up where you left off.

Q: What are CEU’s?
A: CEU stands for “Continuing Education Unit,” where one (1) CEU credit hour is equal to ten (10) hours of actual work it takes to complete a specific course.

Q: How many hours will it take to complete a course?
A: Most courses take between ten (10) to twenty (20) hours.  If a course says it is worth 1.5 CEU’s, that means it will take fifteen (15) hours of work to complete the course.

Q: Is there an instructor available to answer questions?
A: Yes. The courses are both self-paced and instructor-led. An instructor is available to answer questions as well as monitor and assess your performance in the course.

Q: Do I need to buy any textbooks?
A: Most courses on UniversalClass™ are thoroughly written enough so you will not need to buy any required textbooks--although we will recommend additional reading materials to purchase--these materials are optional and you are not required to buy them to complete the course. However, some courses do require textbooks (for example, many of the Algebra and Geometry courses require textbooks)--refer to the class syllabus for any 'required textbooks' or other course supplies.

OER Commons is a FREE public digital library of open educational resources created by the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME).

Explore, create, and collaborate with educators around the world to improve curriculum.

MIT OpenCourseWare is a FREE and open publication of material from thousands of MIT courses across the entire MIT curriculum. That’s courses from every MIT department and degree program, and ranging from the introductory to the most advanced graduate level.
Each OCW course includes a syllabus, some instructional material (such as lecture notes or a reading list), and some learning activities (such as assignments or exams). Many courses also have complete video lectures, free online textbooks, and faculty teaching insights. While some OCW content is custom-created for online use, most of it comes straight from the MIT classroom.
