Free Choices For Digital Resources With Your Library Card!
Below is further information on all of the different platforms available to Eureka Public Library District card holders. You will need to know your library card number and PIN.  
If you do not know your PIN, please send an email with your name and phone number to [email protected].
When the library is open, staff provides eReader tech help by appointment. Call us at 309.467.2922 to set up an appointment with a staff member. Bring your fully charged device and all of your device passwords to the appointment.

How to download an eBook from Freading on your home computer:

Downloading an eBook (EPUB format) from Freading will allow you to read the book while not connected to the internet. In order to read the EPUB, you will also first need to install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer:
  1. Visit the download page for Adobe Digital Editions.
  2. Download the appropriate Windows or Apple .exe file, then click Run to install.
  3. It will ask you to authenticate it with an Adobe ID. If you do not have an Adobe ID, go ahead and create an ID with a username and password.
  4. Once installed and authenticated, there should be an Adobe Digital Editions icon on your desktop.
  5. Visit the Freading site (https://eurekapl.freading.com/index). Log in with your library card number and PIN. Explore the site and find something to check out. For help navigating the site, click here: https://eurekapl.freading.com/questions/index.
  6. When you find something to checkout, click Download EPUB.
  7. The .acsm book file will download and appear on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Click on the file.
  8. The file will automatically open up in the Adobe Digital Editions program on your computer and you can begin reading.
  9. If you have downloaded multiple items, click on Library in Adobe Digital Editions to see all of the items you have downloaded and choose which eBook you would like to read first.
Freading is an ebook platform used by libraries around the globe. Cardholders can browse and borrow from Freading’s vast selection of ebooks from leading publishers in every genre and in 29 languages.
  • Books can be downloaded to an eReader, tablet, smartphone, or computer.​

  • Download the free Hoopla app from your app store or through the provided links.
  • Follow the prompts (selecting Eureka Public Library District, entering your library card number [D66---] and PIN). You will
    need to provide an email address, create a password, and then you can start exploring!

  • Get started by selecting Browse on your computer or, in the app, selecting a format (Audiobooks, Comics, eBooks, Movies, Music, Television, or BingePasses) that you would like to explore. You can also search for a specic title by clicking on the Search box or magnifying glass and typing in your title(s)/keyword.
  • To borrow a title, click on the title and then click the Borrow button. Your borrowed titles can be played right after borrowing, and found under the My hoopla tab for viewing/listening. Enjoy your selected titles!
  • Borrowed titles will be automatically returned when your lending period is over. There are no holds, wait lists, or late fees for any hoopla Instant title.
  • If you need additional help, visit the help section on our mobile app, or click on the Help link found at the bottom of hoopladigital.com.

RAILS is refocusing the content that is available on the BiblioBoard platform and rebranding it as Inkie.org Library. The revised platform will exclusively feature content by Illinois authors, creators, and communities. Collections will include the Indie Illinois eBook collection and the RAILS Community Collections multimedia anthologies.
  • There is no limit on simultaneous use; items can be read by 1 or 100 patrons at the same time. This means no hold queues and no waiting for titles!
  • Access content on your computer or download the free BiblioBoard app from your app store or through the links below.
  • RAILS Community Collections include unique content curated by individual libraries, such as digital portfolios, albums from local musicians, and pictures and books from local archives.

KANOPY | Streaming Video

Is there a viewing limit?
Each patron receives 30 tickets per month.

Tickets do no roll over and are reset the first day of each month.
  • Next to the play button, you will see how many tickets a title will use and how long you will have access to it.
  • Kid's films (located on the Kids Kanopy portion of the site) are unlimited and do not require any credits.
How do i get logged in?
To get started:
  • Download the Kanopy app from your app store or visit eurekapl.kanopy.com/ on your computer or internet-enabled/smart television (or by connecting your computer to a television via an HDMI cable). ​
  • When prompted to Find Your Public Library, search for Eureka Public Library District and click on the box to select.
  • Enter your library card number (Dxxxxxxxxx) and PIN. If you do not know your PIN, please send an email with your name and phone number to [email protected].
  • Create your account by entering your name, email address, and password, then select Sign Up.​

Free video streaming service for library card holders!

Kanopy is a video streaming platform for libraries. Kanopy offers over 30,000 films—one of the largest film databases for libraries globally. Films come from over 1,000 top producers and distributers such as Janus Films (Criterion Collection), Frederick Wiseman (“Ex Libris”), Magnolia Pictures, Paramount Pictures (only selected Hollywood studio movies), Weston Woods, GKIDS, Women Make Movies, The Great Courses, PBS, Kino Lorber, Samuel Goldwyn Films, and many more. Over 60 percent of Kanopy’s content is exclusive and only available on Kanopy. There are dozens of new releases launched weekly.

Is there a checkout/HOld limit?
Checkouts:
  • You can borrow up to 5 items at a time.
  • The maximum checkout period is 14 days.
  • You can return items early.

Holds: 
  • You can have up to 5 items on hold at a time.
  • You have 2 days to check out an item once it becomes available.
How do i get logged in?
  1. Download: The Palace Project app is available in both the Apple App Store for iOS phones and tablets and the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets.
  2. Connect: Open the Palace app, tap “Find Your Library,” and type or scroll to find your library’s name to access their collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks.
  3. Browse: Browse available titles by selecting any of the headings to view additional or related titles. Or, search for a specific title by selecting the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. Borrow: Select the desired title and click “Get.” If your book is currently unavailable, click “Reserve” to place a hold. After choosing to get or reserve a title, you will be prompted to sign in with your library barcode number and PIN.
  5. Read: Once your book has been downloaded, click “Read” or “Listen” and enjoy! Borrowed titles can be easily accessed by selecting “My Books” at the bottom of the screen.
