  • nine public computer stations (due to social distancing requirements we are only able to use four stations at this time)
  • copier/scanner/fax machine
  • Friends of the Eureka Public Library District book sale room (currently closed due to the pandemic)

February's Program in a Bag:
Take and Make Yarn Flower Craft

Until we can do in-person programs again, we have a new Program in a Bag for adults. Every month there will be a new themed bag with a craft, book list, and other activities! For February we have a Take and Make Yarn Flower Craft!

Pick up starting Tuesday, February 16.

Cozy Up with a Good Book
Winter Reading Program | February 1 - March 13

Read with us in February and March and work on activities at home to stay cozy and warm!

Registration will be open January 25 - February 5! Winter Reading is for all patrons aged 12+.

​Pick up your personalized Winter Reading card at the adult circulation desk starting February 1. Or let us know you want us to include yours in a Porch Pickup!

*NOTE: You must complete the online registration BEFORE you pick up your card.*

Guidelines:
  1. Read at least 2 hours a week every week. You decide what you would like to read, it all counts! Bring in your card weekly to be stamped.
  2. When all 6 squares are stamped, put your card into the drawing for a cozy winter reading gift basket!
  3. Miss a week? Complete one of the extra activities and that will substitute for reading that week!​

Women's History presentation by author Suzanne Woods Fisher

Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher will be joining us via Zoom for a presentation on Women's History, including the true story that inspired her new book The Moonlight School. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with library patrons.

Medicare Made Clear

An informational virtual presentation about Medicare basics will be offered via Zoom. This program is ideal for anyone desiring updated information on Medicare Parts A-D or Medicare Supplements. Rules of the Road

The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office will be presenting this free review of the Rules of the Road via Zoom for anyone preparing to apply for or renew their license. This will be an online class with the instructor teaching remotely. Advanced registration is required in order to receive Zoom information and materials.

Learning About the DNA Hand You're Dealt: Utilizing Testing Company Tools

If you have taken a DNA test and don’t know what to do next, you won’t want to miss this program presented by Professional Genealogist Carol Genung. Learn about the DNA hand you’re dealt by utilizing the unique tools provided at each of these testing companies: AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, and 23andMe. Come learn how to take advantage of these DNA tools to discover more about your DNA and ancestral origins.

Carol Genung, owner of Illuminated Ancestries, is a professional genealogist specializing in DNA evidence and Midwestern research. She also writes and lectures on a variety of DNA and genealogy topics. She has been researching for nearly 30 years and has a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. She holds positions as a board member and editor of her local genealogy society’s journal Gleanings, as Regent of her DAR chapter, and as a volunteer at her local genealogy library.

Suffrage Saturday Virtual Film Fest

In August, Eureka Public Library hosted its first Virtual Film Fest! Every week we posted a link to a film about the Women's Suffrage movement, as well as a short review by one of our staff members. The movies were all free to view with a Eureka Public Library card. We encouraged patrons to watch the film, read the review, and let us know their thoughts!

Pumpkins, Parades & Pies: Eureka's Pumpkin Festival Past
​Take a step back in time and view a visual history of the Eureka Pumpkin Festival! The festival, which was held between 1939 and 1961, regularly averaged at least 50,000 attendees from all over Illinois and the Midwest. In 1947 film star and Eureka College alumnus Ronald Reagan and Illinois Governor Dwight Green attended, drawing national attention.
